She is being touted as the next big thing and her eagerly awaited single will hit the streets this month - a week later than planned.

The Norwegian born artist Deeyah (right) completed a UK wide tour in June and July last year to promote the track: Plan of my Own.

Having already released two albums in her home country Deeyah has spent a significant amount of time in Britain and the US in a bid to crack their music markets.

She spent the past year working with producer Darin Prindle, who has previously worked with Destiny's Child, TLC, Madonna, Jermaine Dupri, Boyz II Men and Usher.

Darin says: "Deeyah is a star in every sense of the word. She has talent, drive, beauty and most of all, intelligence which you must have in order to stay at the top once you get there."

Deeyah said, "Living in Scandinavia I grew up with pop. I adored Madonna, Michael Jackson and Prince. Later on, I really got into hip-hop as well as rock. I love Snoop Dogg, Dre, Cypress Hill, Above the Law and Tha Alkaholiks as well as Metallica, Faith No More, and Alice In Chains. All these acts have a big impact on my musical taste and a great influence on my own musical expression."

The 26 year old singer is already reportedly working with Nitin Sawhney and will be featured on dance DJ Paul Oakenfold's upcoming compilation album.

A video for the double A-sided single is already airing on music channels.

Plan Of My Own will be released on 30th January.
