BACUP Borough boss Brent Peters is considering a switch of sports during the current spell of wet weather.

"The nearest we'll get to a ball this weekend will be playing water polo," said Peters.

In other words, there's little chance of tomorrow,s North West Counties home game with Newcastle Town being on unless conditions improve dramatically.

Peters added: "The elements haven't been kind to us over the last few days and the reserves game was off last week so I don't see much hope.

"It causes us problems because we have only been at home once this year so the cash flow and revenue is affected."

If the game is off it could be a setback to Ben Thornley and Lee Buggie, who were hoping to get back in the team in the absence of Ian Hughes, who is best man at this brother,s wedding, and Matthew Cross, away working.

"In the last few games quality players like Lee and Ben haven't been in the 14 so it shows what a quality squad we've got here," said Peters.

"There were going to be changes this weekend because of the players being away so it's a setback for them if the game is off."

Bacup have another home game next weekend, but their NWCL Challenge Cup tie with Great Harwood Town has been swicthed to Friday night.

Peters said: "We knew that if Burnley beat Liverpool they would be at home on the Saturday and Ramsbottom and Rossendale are at home too.

"Great Harwood is a big game and we want a good crowd and we feel playing on a Friday will do that."
