SPORTY pupils at a Whitefield primary school have shown they are on the ball when it comes to physical activity.
The youngsters at Heaton Park Primary, in Cuckoo Lane, have been so eager to join in PE and extra-curricular sport that they have received a certificate to prove it.
The school has been awarded the coveted Activemark certificate from Sport England in recognition of promoting the benefits of physical activity and sport.
Headteacher Miss Maureen Gunnell said: "We are very pleased with this award. We had to show that we promote sport and fitness in school and show the many activities we provide.
"The children take part in athletics, cricket, netball, rounders, rugby and, of course, football.
"It's quite a wide range of sports."
The school is one of just a few schools in the borough to receive the award.
