The holidays are supposed to be a time to relax and spend time with the family - not for these youngsters!

More than 300 five- a-side games took place during a Christmas and New year five-a-side tournament.

The four-day competition attracted 84 teams mainly from around the North West.

The competition was a joint initiative involving three Blackburn with Darwen Council departments, including recreation and play services, community leadership project and the safety partnership.

The event, which attracted nearly 3000 players and supporters, was co-ordinated by Anthony Parkinson, Khalid Esat, Colin Hargreaves and Joy Walker as part of the community leadership project and held at Audley Sports Centre.

The competition saw no fewer than 11 different clubs winning the 12 age groups with only Accrington Stanley Juniors enjoying double success.
