MO Camara's proposed dream move to Celtic could collapse if Martin O'Neill decides to walk away from Parkhead.

Former Burnley defender Camara claims he is wanted north of the border by the Scottish giants, who blew their chances of landing the Scottish Premier League title in dramatic fashion last Sunday when two late Motherwell goals gifted bitter rivals Rangers the trophy.

However, Hoops boss O'Neill has now thrown a spanner in the works by hinting he may quit the club to look after his sick wife following this weekend's Scottish Cup final against Dundee United.

And with Gordon Strachan being hotly tipped to take over as manager, that could scupper Camara's hopes of sealing a move to Celtic Park.

The Guinean, who was one of eight players released from Turf Moor this summer, said: "I haven't spoken to Martin (O'Neill), but I believe there has been some contact between Celtic and my agent.

"Nothing will happen yet because Celtic have an important cup game coming up to concentrate on, but they are a massive club and if you are asked to join them, you take that chance.

"However, they also have an issue with their manager and that could complicate matters, so I need to wait and see what happens."

Camara, who has made Celtic his number one choice in the hope of linking up with fellow Guineans Bobo Balde and Momo Sylla, also claims that Ipswich Town are chasing his signature.

Like Celtic, the Tractor Boys suffered end-of-season heartache when West Ham knocked them out of the Championship play offs.

And with best friend Drissa Diallo still on the books at Portman Road, Camara has not yet ruled out a move to Suffolk following his Turf Moor exit.

He added: "I don't have a club at the moment and I will just wait and see what happens. Ipswich have also said they are interested, but they missed out in the play offs and they may be thinking differently now.

"But either way, this next move is a big decision for me and my family and I must make the right move, so there is no rush."

Meanwhile, Burnley boss Steve Cotterill has returned from his German scouting trip and resumed his hunt for new players in England.
