SIX brave Rossendale men are preparing to bare all to help send a sick youngster to Florida.

They are to take part in a Full Monty-style fundraiser for Stacksteads six-year-old Connor Hurst.

The Holy Trinity school pupil is recovering from a life-saving double transplant operation at Birmingham Children's Hospital to replace his liver and bowel.

A fund has been set up to send him on a dream holiday when he is fully recovered.

Organisers hope the event, at Irwell Inn, Burnley Road, Bacup on June 25, will raise around £1,500.

Angela Collier, who has helped arrange the evening, said: "We are having a comedian, supper and then six local men will be doing the Full Monty.

"I think it's brilliant. They are all totally dedicated and have been to dancing lessons, the gym and sunbed sessions.

"They are unbelievably enthusiastic It will be the best night ever.

"Everything will be off but it will be done tastefully."

But while the men are happy to strip to their birthday suits to help Connor , they are shy of giving out their names.

As well as the holiday, the fund will go towards a redecorated bedroom and a new computer for Connor.

Angela added: "We just want to give him a better quality of life."

A children's calendar, featuring youngsters from the Valley in a series of themed snaps, has already raked in thousands for the fund.

Connor enjoyed a belated Christmas party with all the trimmings in February to make up for the festive period he missed after undergoing the eight-hour operation.

Connor's mum Dawn Birtwistle, of Hindle Street, praised the striptease volunteers.

She said: "They are really trying hard with going to dancing lessons and everything.

"We're just grateful they are all thinking of Connor and doing things for him.

"Connor's doing really well and he's going back to school after half-term in June."

The event is strictly for over 18s only with tickets, available from Friday, costing £10. They are on sale at the pub on 01706 873346 or Gemma's Tanning and Beauty Salon, Newchurch Road, Stacksteads on 01706 878200.
