I AM so pleased to hear that lorry driver H Jackson (Citizen, May 11) has the pleasure of looking at countryside as he 'by-passes most towns'.
If plans for the Heysham-M6 link road Northern Route were to go ahead (heaven forbid) the view from hundreds of nearby homes would be of an ugly snarling, polluting, monster road in place of lovely countryside.
The majority of traffic using the present road is trying to get in and out of Lancaster city centre not bypass it.
Any reduction of noise, vibration and pollution (D Mills, Citizen, May 11) would only be achieved by moving the pollutants to Torrisholme, the Morecambe Road junction and Beaumont!
Then, that incredibly beautiful and tranquil green countryside would become the closest thing to hell that most of us have ever seen.
L Davies, Morecambe
