I HAVE never heard such a puddled argument for supporting the EU Constitution as that put forward by MEP Chris Davies in the Citizen.

The reason the French refer to the treaty as 'too British' is because they fear the economic advantage we have by fixing our own bank rate and having a fairer climate of trading.

The result is an unemployment level in the UK which is half of that in Germany and France and a successful economy which the Government never tire of telling us about.

Why should we want to join a declining standard of living affecting previous high flyers like Germany?

We don't hear many complaints these days about beach towels dominating foreign holiday beaches - simply because the majority of Germans can't afford foreign holidays any more, with or without the Euro.
