FAME Academy winner David Sneddon (pictured right) is just one of several headline acts from London heading to East Lancashire this weekend to take part in a new youth festival.

The 'Evolve' festival, organised by the Youth Action Trust, will take place at Pendle Leisure Centre, in Colne, over the Bank Holiday weekend, and organisers hope it will become an annual event.

Music co-ordinator Mary Thomas said: "As this is a completely new venture, it is important that as many people as possible attend this community event so that we can make it bigger and better next year.

"It is promoted as a youth festival -- but anyone from the community will be welcome to attend and listen to the music and soak up the atmosphere. We will have a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system, giant video screens, and a large stage."

The event runs from 2pm to 11pm on Saturday, Sunday, and Bank Holiday Monday.

With a platinum album to his name, singer/songwriter David Sneddon, winner of the first Fame Academy talent show on the BBC, will be performing an acoustic set on Saturday at 4pm.

On Sunday evening, Nate James, the new hope for British Soul and R&B, will be performing.

Organisers have also lined up many other bands and performers as support acts.
