AS one of the many who have signed a petition against the closure of local post offices, I have also opted to utilise other post office facilities in favour of a bank.
I was therefore annoyed to be told that, owing to the fact that I no longer have a cheque account with my bank, I am penalised from purchasing their current Post Office Guaranteed Equity Bond.
The bank have informed me that a bankers cheque is not acceptable. This unfair and prejudicial ruling fails to recognise that people like myself are the ones trying to prevent the closure of a valuable post office system by choosing to make full use of their facilities.
It goes without saying that those who are not penalised are using a much wider range of banking services and have little need of a post office. They probably couldnt care less if a section of their network faces closure.
