'M proud to be a supporter of the Everyman Campaign. Indeed last year I climbed into a pair of giant underpants to promote greater awareness of prostate and testicular cancer.
June is Everyman Male Cancer Awareness Month and I'm writing to urge readers -- men, but also their partners too -- to be more aware of the facts of male cancer.
Prostate cancer is now the most common cancer to affect men, with 30,000 new cases diagnosed in the UK each year and one man an hour in the UK dying from the disease.
Everyman scientists are leading research into what causes it and how it can be treated.
The incidence of testicular cancer, the most common cancer affecting men aged 15 to 35, has risen dramatically in the last 20 years.
But if it's caught early then it can be cured in around 99 per cent of cases.
That's why it's so important that men check themselves regularly.
Readers can find out more about these diseases or make a donation towards this vital research by calling The Everyman Campaign on 0800 7319468 or visiting www.icr.ac.uk/everyman
So many more people are living with cancer -- living better lives than we ever dared hope -- so now together we must find a cure.
