BURNLEY MP Kitty Ussher has given birth to a baby daughter.
Elizabeth Susan Colley was born yesterday afternoon, weighing a healthy 8lb 8oz.
She is named after 34-year-old Mrs Ussher's husband, Peter Colley, who has given up work to look after the child.
The birth followed a 36-hour labour and took place at Burnley General Hospital.
Mr Colley and Mrs Ussher sent text messages to friends and family to say they were "delighted" at the birth.
Mother and daughter are said to be doing well, although Mrs Ussher was obviously tired.
Mr Colley was said to be "not bad either."
A spokesman said: "They are absolutely delighted. She is absolutely exhausted and asked to be left alone for the time being whilst she recovers."
