A PART-TIME student is appealing for the safe return of precious revision notes stolen when her car was broken into.

Sarah Kozlowski, 23, had the notes taken as part of a £900 haul which included clothes, CDs and the car stereo during the theft in the early hours.

The receptionist, of Heys Close, Blackburn, is hoping someone who knows where her notes are will contact her to return them -- or she fears she will fail her exams.

She is taking business studies and IT at night classes at Blackburn College and is due to sit exams in Microsoft Word and Excel at the culmination of a 20-week study period later this month.

The royal blue folder, which had her name written on the front, was taken from the boot of her black Fiat Punto which was parked outside her home.

Thieves smashed the back passenger windows of the car, taking the stereo, CDs worth £420, brand new Timberland boots and a furry-hooded coat.

She said: "I live with my mum and brother but I'm always to-ing and fro-ing to my boyfriend's house so I tend to keep a supply of clothes and things in the boot of my car.

"I had just finished a shift at the Knowles Arms pub in Brownhill and got home at about 1am.

"I parked outside my house and was so tired I didn't empty the boot, I was just thinking about my bed -- now I'm worried someone was watching me.

All my college work was in the car, stored in a black briefcase in the boot.

"I'm wondering if the thieves took it thinking it was a laptop because those notes would be useless to anybody but me.

"I'm really upset because I've been studying hard over the last 20 weeks and we've got exams at the end of the month.

"Without my revision notes it's going to be hard to keep up."

Sarah reported the crime to police but has decided not to claim on her insurance because she has a £300 excess charge and is worried it would make her premium shoot up as she is a new driver.

She is also heartbroken that sentimental CDs bought abroad are unlikely to ever be replaced.

Sarah added: "I'm gutted. I've already been round second-hand CD shops and to friends and neighbours to see if anyone has got some of my more rare CDs but nobody has.

"In particular I'm upset I lost a limited edition Arabian theatre music CD called Arabian Nights and two called 'Malibu' and 'Cameo' which I bought in Ayia Napa from the nightclubs while on holiday with friends."

A police spokesman urged anybody who knows where Sarah's notes, or other property, is to call them on 01254 51212.
