A ROSSENDALE gun club has built a shooting range without planning permission.

Rossendale Fusilliers Rifle and Pistol Club has submitted a retrospective planning application for a 200 metre shooting facility, including a 50 metre handgun range.

The council’s development control committee granted the club permission for a 100 metre range but owners did not consult the it before extending the premises.

The council’s enforcement team investigated the issue and gave the owners the option to seek retrospective permission.

Stuart Sugarman, director of business, said: “The additions that have been made to the site in the last 12 months will require retrospective planning permission which has been applied for.”

The site in New Barn Lane, Rawtenstall will be discussed by the council later this month.
