CANNABIS plants with an estimated street value of £32,000 have been seized during a raid in Blackburn this morning.
Police recovered 81 plants of varying maturity, eight ounces of dried cannabis and 20 snap bags of cannabis from a house in Wellington Street, off Preston New Road, Blackburn, at around 9am.
Officers from the South West Neighbourhood Policing Team, the Operations Support Unit and detectives from the Intelligence Unit also seized £800 cash from the address and arrested a 37-year-old man and 22-year-old woman in connection with the find.
Both have been released on police bail pending further inquiries.
The raid was on the back of concerns raised by local residents at a public meeting in Blackburn.
Community Beat Manager for Galligreaves, Griffin and Witton, PC Chris Hammill said: “This is a significant seizure which will have undoubtedly disrupted the supply of cannabis in Blackburn.
“Tackling drug dealers has been a policing priority after the issue was raised by local residents at a recent PACT meeting.
“This is part of our ongoing commitment to tackling people suspected of drug dealing in Blackburn and should demonstrate that we act upon community concerns."
