FRIENDS of a teenager who died from an allergic reaction are gearing up for a year of fund-raising in her memory.

Last year work colleagues of 19-year-old Francesca Sanna raised more than £18,000 for the Anaphylaxis Society — and hope to do even better this year.

Francesca, of Fielding Lane, Oswaldtwistle, died after developing breathing problems as she prepared for a night out with friends in October 2007.

The trigger for her allergic reaction was never established.

Her parents own Franco's restau-rant in Union Road, Oswaldtwistle.

Friends of the Blackburn Chemicals accounts worker have previously raised cash for charity by jumping out of planes, washing cars and doing sponsored walks.

They are now planning a treasure hunt and auction, followed by a 30mile walk from the Fylde to Blackburn on the anniversary of the former Rhyddings High School pupil's death.

Colleague Sara Bimson said: "We wanted to help raise awareness of her condition and help fund research into preventing and treating these terrible attacks."

The treasure hunt will be held on May 2 at 5.30pm, starting from Uncle Jacks in Lower Darwen.

To make a donation contact Sara on 01254 507325 or 07810 231264.
