Town councillors held a meeting with clergy and representatives of the town to discuss ways of assisting the churches, by holding a special event following the annual Whit walks.
The aim is to possibly hold a celebration for families, in the town hall ballroom, after the walks have ended.
In the past, there used to be a field day where games and light refreshments were organised, but, on many occasions, they were spoilt by the poor weather.
