A KNIFEMAN who confronted two schoolboys looking for their missing remote control helicopter has been warned he faces jail.

Burnley Crown Court heard how Matthew Scott, 38, had appeared with the 18 inch weapon after discovering the two 13-year-olds trying to find their helicopter in his garden.

He pointed it at the two terrified boys and told them : "You are lucky you didn't get this," Burnley Crown Court heard.

The hearing was told Scott was very security conscious after being burgled. The defendant, of Lower Hollin Bank Street, Blackburn, admitted affray, last July 4.

He was bailed until March 24, for a pre-sentence report and warned by Recorder Timothy Ryder all options were open, and that included custody.

David Macro, prosecuting, told the court the two boys were playing with the helicopter at about 7am. It flew off and they were looking for it.

The pair went knocking on doors asking if they could look in householders' back gardens.

They went to Scott's house and got no answer, who laterv said he had been asleep.

One of the boys gave the other a leg up to look over the wall at the back of the house but they could not see the helicopter.

Mr Macro said Scott then became aware of what was happening.

The court heard he had previously been burgled and his house was heavily secured, with barbed wire around it.

Scott got out of bed, came out of his front door, got angry and shouted at the two boys, the court heard. He then produced the knife and pointed it at the victims.

Mr Macro said Scott then went back in his house and police were called.

Claire Thomas, for Scott, said he had previous convictions. She asked for a pre-sentence report.
