A mobile phone company is pulling its global office out of Rossendale.

2ergo, specialists in mobile phone solutions, is relocating its head office, which is currently at St Mary’s Chambers, Rawtenstall.

But bosses are planning to take the current members of staff to the new headquarters in the digital media complex in Salford Quays.

Chris Brassington, the firm’s managing director, said: “We’ve enjoyed ten fantastic years in Rawtenstall, but our phenomenal growth and long-term strategic plans for expansion, meant that we needed to find a new location for our global headquarters.

“Our future business growth will be enhanced by being at the heart of Media City in Salford.

“We already work in partnership with FOX News in the United States, so being located next to major media organisations, such as the BBC, and some of the UK’s leading marketing firms is essential to our continued global expansion.

“We are pleased to report that no jobs will be lost during the headquarters move, as many Rawtenstall-based employees will be commuting to Media City.”

2ergo has been operating in Rawtenstall since 1999 and has grown by more than 600 per cent since working in the Valley. The company is now a £30million-plus business with offices in London, North America, Argentina and Mexico.

Rawtenstall councillor Jim Pilling said: “It’s deeply saddening to see businesses moving out of Rawtenstall.

“This has been happening for years and it really needs addressing now.

“The town needs some serious investment because at the moment, it looks rundown and unappealing.”
