A WOMAN has warned Christmas shopppers to beware of bogus text messages.
Janet Shaw, 45 of Mill Hill, Blackburn received a text from a company which charged her £17 for a 10 minute call.
She said: “I received a message that said ‘URGENT. Large parcel awaiting delivery. Please call this number to arrange collection’.
“I had ordered some presents online and thought it must be them. So I called the international number.”
Bosses at Trading Standards said callers shouldn’t be paying more than £1.50 a minute at the premium rate.
Anyone who has been a victim of this scam should contact Consumer Direct on 08454 04 05 06.”
