A 26-year-old man from Fulwood is seriously ill in hospital after he crashed into a lamppost on the slip road of the M6 at junction 31 close to the Tickled Trout hotel.
Police say a red Peugeot 205 skidded and smashed into the lamppost at around 6pm on Sunday.
He was then taken to the Royal Preston Hospital with suffering from severe head injuries.
