A BRIGHT future is being predicted for a run-down area of Nelson.
Whitefield Regeneration Partnership said new life would be breathed into area in the coming year.
The partnership has approved architects Maccreanor Lavington and John McCall Associates to prepare a revised masterplan.
Lancashire County Council is to begin a formal consultation on extending the number of school places, which could mean a new infant school building for Whitefield, providing places for 270 school-age children and 33 full-time equivalent nursery places.
More would also be created at Lomeshaye Junior School.
The Prince of Wales is continuing to take an interest in the regeneration and talks are continuing with representatives from The Prince’s Regeneration Trust and The Prince’s Foundation for the Built Environment.
Plans have also been submitted by Pendle Council to refurbish two blocks of terrace houses and demolish the derelict Printworks building, in Every Street.
