Young people from Blackburn and Darwen took to the water as part of their Duke of Edinburgh gold award.

They took part in a five-day expedition canoeing and camping along 65km of the River Tarn in France.

The group raised money for the expedition through grants, donations and fund-raising activities.

They travelled to France with staff from the council’s young people’s service.

Coun Michael Law-Riding, executive member for leisure and culture, said: “This experience has helped the young people to become more confident in their own abilities as they have had to overcome some challenging situations.

"Congratulations to all members in completing this section of the award."
