CHILDREN and commuters were given a scare this morning when two crashes occurred within an hour outside a large Burnley school.
Police said a moped, carrying a teenage passenger, collided with an Audi A3 car at around 8.26am outside Sir John Thursby Community College, in Eastern Avenue.
The 49-year-old male driver of the moped and 14-year-old female passenger, both from Nelson, were taken to Royal Blackburn Hospital where they were treated for minor injuries, including cuts and bruises before being sent home.
The Audi driver, from Gargrave, North Yorkshire, is believed to have escaped the smash unharmed.
A second minor accident happened shortly after, but the two drivers exchanged details and left before police arrived.
No injuries and no major damage were caused by the collision.
