RESIDENTS and councillors have put together plans to guide future developers how to regenerate a disused mill.
They took action to prevent any future developers of Peel Fold Mill, Stanhill Road, Oswaldtwistle, proposing over ambitious plans for the site.
It comes as a result of a public inquiry into designs by Barratt Homes to create 59 home development of houses and apartments at the site.
Residents in Stanhill and Stanhill Village Committee were strongly opposed to the development and hit out at the scale of the plans for the village, which has a population of just 300.
Hyndburn Borough Council planning officers have, with the input from local councillors and residents, put together a proposal for the former mill site.
If they are approved during Hyndburn Council’s cabinet meeting today developers would have to then abide by the plans.
Coun Peter Britcliffe, leader of Hyndburn Council, said: “Residents and councillors have worked together to form this plan because they do want to see the site being developed but not over developed.”
