CHILDREN are competing for the chance to design a poster to deter unwanted callers during Hallowe’en.
Police community support officers for Rishton have enlisted the help of Year 6 pupils from three of Rishton’s schools to come up with a poster to put off treat or treaters.
The competition named Jack O’Lantern runs until October 3.
Community beat manager PC Paul Haworth said the community policing team decided to launch Jack O’Lantern after speaking to residents over concerns they had over Hallowe’en.
The winning poster will be available from The People’s Centre, School Street, Rishton.
On Yer Bike Cycles, Roe Lee, Blackburn, will be donating a bike for the winner.
PC Haworth said: “We are trying to promote responsible behaviour and deter anti-social behaviour at this time of year.
“We hope the posters will act as a deterrent.”
