POLICE have issued a warning after a spate of attacks in Pendle.

There have been four assaults in the early hours of the morning since last Thursday, according to officers.

On Thursday when a 17-year-old girl was approached and racially abused by youths at 10pm in Scotland Road, Nelson, and the following night a 20-year-old was left with a broken nose after he was attacked by four men outside a takeaway in Scotland Road.

Then a 28-year-old man was left with bruising to his face after he gave a cigarette to a youth near to Nelson’s Woolworths store at 9.40pm on Saturday.

And a 35-year-old man was assaulted while walking to the bottom of Higher Causeway in Barrowford between 2.20 and 2.30am on Sunday.

Sgt Keith Beckley said: “People should take care when leaving premises.

"Ideally they should stay with friends or use the services of a taxi.”
