A HASLINGDEN mum made the best of losing her hectic travelling job – by setting up a new family-friendly cafe.
When former airline buyer Nicola Sheridan was made redundant from My Travel back in October she decided to use the cash to part-fund her new project.
And she opened her new venture – The Old School Room at Haslingden Community Link and Children’s Centre, Bury Road – yesterday.
The 32-year-old from Hud Hey Road, came up with lots of ideas to make the centre unique, including giving away a portion of organic baby food with every adult meal.
She will also be offering meal deals, daily specials, OAP discounts, wi-fi and a catering service.
Mum-of-one Nicola said the cafe was something she had wanted to do for 10 years but never got round to it.
She said: “It was a really good opportunity and it’s going to be fantastic.
"We’ve put a lot of work into the café. It’s got a relaxed and cosy atmosphere.
"There’s a comfy sofa area and a children’s area so that parents and children have a chance to chill out.
"Because there are a lot of classes for parents in the centre, they will probably use the cafe afterwards.”
Nicola’s new cafe will be open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Friday.
