MONTHS of hard work by local apprentices and high-school pupils was unveiled yesterday.
A 10-metre steel bridge has been erected on the Darwen Anglers site in Hoddlesden, off Johnson New Road.
It was designed by pupils at Darwen Vale High School and built by apprentices at WEC Group.
The project has focused on bringing industry and schools together.
The side panels of the bridge carry the names of people who have made a contribution to the Darwen community.
Lynn Dunning, head of Darwen Vale, and a group of students involved in the project travelled to the site along with WEC managing director Steve Hartley and apprentices.
Dave Connors represented Darwen Anglers, who will use the bridge on a daily basis.
