AN Accrington landmark is set to become a restaurant and a function room, if planning permission is granted.

Plans are set to be discussed at Hyndburn Borough Council planning meeting, on Wednesday, to transform Richmond Road’s former Methodist chapel into a reception venue and restaurant.

It comes after they were previously deferred when planning councillors said they were ‘torn’ because only 44 parking spaces were available.

They put back the decision for planning officers to work on a compromise with the applicant, Nazakat Ali.

The plan is to create a ground-floor function room, principally for Asian weddings, holding 160 people, and a first- floor restaurant seating 150.
