A BURNLEY milkman has been accused of supplying cannabis resin to customers with their daily pint.

Pensioner Robert Holding, of Fair View Road, Burnley, is alleged to have been carrying out “commercial supply” of cannabis resin to 17 customers on his round.

Police said that it was alleged that cannabis was delivered with milk to customers who had left a note out requesting the drugs Holding appeared before Burnley Magistrates yesterday to face two charges, which were outlined by prosecutor Joanne Close.

The 72-year-old is charged with supplying cannabis resin in Burnley between April 1 and June 17.

He also faces an allegation of possessing 167 grams of the drug with intent to supply on July 17.

The defendant, who was represented by Lee Hammond, did not enter any pleas and the bench decided the case should be heard at the Crown Court.

Holding was given unconditional bail until November 5 when committal proceedings will take place.

Police in Burnley have confirmed that Holding was arrested at his home address on July 17 following an investigation over a number of weeks .
