Many people appeared before Wrexham and Mold Magistrates Courts on Monday.

They include...

Darren Roberts, aged 49 and of Heol Y Wal in Bradley, Wrexham, was sentenced for theft from a shop - in that he took three packs of razors worth a total of £64.25 from Tesco in Wrexham on March 25. The court decided the offence was "so serious that only custodial sentence" could be justified, due to his previous convictions and the fact he was subject to a community order at the time of the offending. As such, the defendant received a 20 week custodial sentence, but suspended it for 12 months. He must complete up to 15 days of rehabilitation activity and pay £85 costs.

Daniel Balta, aged 34 and of Norman Road in Wrexham, was sentenced for driving a motor vehicle whilst over the alcohol limit, which took place in Kingsmills Road in Wrexham on April 11. He was found to have 55 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath; the limit being 35. The court banned him from driving for 14 months and fined him £120. He must also pay costs of £85 and a £48 victim surcharge.

Joshua Williams, aged 25 and of Woodland Grove in Froncysyllte, Llangollen, was sentenced for possession of cannabis, which happened at Rhosymedre on May 19 last year. The court handed down a conditional discharge of 12 months and ordered that the drug be forfeited and destroyed. Williams must also pay £85 costs and a £26 victim surcharge.

Valentina Militaru, aged 36 and of Maes Gwyn in Flint, was sentenced for three offences of speeding, all of which took place in Sychdyn over the course of a week in July 2023, and saw her exceeding 30mph. The court handed her a total of nine penalty points (three for each of the offences) and made the decision not to ban her from driving. The grounds for that decision were that she "carries out important work for Women's Aid and EPEC" which she would not be able to do without a driving licence. The court's decision was also based, among other things, on the fact she is a single parent of three young children whom she supports financially. Militaru was fined £164 and must pay a £66 victim surcharge, as well as £110 costs.

Joshua Speke, aged 22 and of Wyson Avenue in Brimfield, was sentenced for exceeding a 50mph speed limit on the A483 at Wrexham on September 6 last year. He received a points disqualification of six months and a fine of £520. The court ordered him to pay £110 costs and a £208 victim surcharge.
