THE granddaughter of a woman with cancer has praised the branch staff at Natwest St Helens after they sent her flowers.

Cathy Livens from Rainhill visited the branch last week after locking herself out of her online banking, and while there told staff that she had been having cancer treatment and it stopped working.

In response the staff comforted her, and a few days later a huge bouquet of flowers was delivered to her address to cheer her up.

Cathy’s granddaughter Hannah Davis from Sutton Manor took to Facebook to thank the staff, which has garnered a huge response from the St Helens community.

The post said: “Just wanted to say a massive Thankyou to the team at NatWest St Helen’s.

“My grandma went in last week for some help after finding out that unfortunately her cancer treatment is no longer working and she’s been placed on palliative care.

“She says the staff were lovely and then a few days later these arrived in the post.

“Thank you for being such a ray of light in these very dark times, it means more than we can put in words.”

Speaking to the Star, Hannah, 26, added: “It was really unexpected, she’s been really down since getting the news and it was just a little bit of sunshine in a difficult time and it really cheered her up.

“It just shows that there are so many kind people around and what didn’t take them a lot of time made all the difference to how grandma felt after receiving them so thank you to all the staff, thank you so much from the bottom of my heart.”
