It's time to shine the spotlight on one of the best boozers the borough has to offer, in our Pub of the Week feature.

This time, we have chosen a place in Blackburn that will be perfect to watch this summer's Euros football matches. But while we wait for warmer months, here are some of the reasons the pub is so popular all-year round.

Name of the pub: The Havelock Inn

Address of the pub: Havelock Street, Blackburn, BB2 2QA

Lancashire Telegraph:

Their website says: "We are a family-friendly public house with live entertainment and offer the best in live sports, including multi-screen TVs, outdoor screens and BT and Sky Sports.

"We also have entertainment every weekend, including karaoke, live music, and an outdoor children's park."

Nicknamed 'the town's favourite public house', a newly built marquee at the pub was recently created to provide 'the best entertainment all year round', with its own bar and full heaters.

The pub also offers pool and darts games, and can be rented out for private functions, as well as the sister pub, The Mill Hill Hotel.

Owners Darren Heggie and Chris Dilworth have been at the pub for the last 16 years, with Darren in the pub business for most of his life.

Darren said that whilst the pub struggled during the COVID-19 pandemic, The Havelock Inn was one of the only places in Blackburn that was allowed to open due to their outside space.

He said: "My favourite memory was the World Cup in 2022 after the struggles of the COVID-19 pandemic. But really all the world cups have actually been great due to how much sport we put on.

"We are expecting the Euros this summer to be just as good."

Upcoming entertainment such as live music includes Celine Dion, Gary Barlow, Rod Stewart tribute acts, with a Freddie Mercury tribute act this Saturday (February 24).

The Inn also recently achieved the highest overall score for a 'Mystery Customer Visit' at the 'Incognito' mystery visitor programme for Thwaites Pubs.

Angela Brooks left a review on Facebook and wrote: "We were passing through and it was a lovely pub. Friendly people and staff."

Patrick John Leonard wrote: "Had an absolutely fantastic night at The Havelock last night at the Nathan Moore gig.

"Great staff and people. I would highly recommend a night out at the Havelock. Brilliant night."

"It is so friendly and you have got really good bar staff and the DJ is amazing. Lovely people."
