Customers have expressed their sadness as The Old Black Bull is set to be taken over by new management.

The Old Black Bull located in Friargate, Preston is set to be taken over by new management after the current manager is stepping down.

A number of music bands who were set to play at the venue this month had their gigs cancelled last minute which sparked concerns.

Rumours that the beloved music venue was closing down circulated online but Greene King, who own the pub building, confirmed this is not the case.

Glam Rockers and Marauder, are two of the bands that shared that the venue pulled the plug on all bands booked to play with residents sharing their sadness over the situation.

Responding to the news about new management taking over, one loyal customer said: "To me, it's the best free live music venue in the centre, possibly all Preston, and it would be a tragedy were it to become just another Sports Bar.

"Live music is the place's USP - capitalise on it and keep the current fantastic clientele that come in, especially for the live music. If the live music goes, so will the footfall I fear."

One person wrote: “Lets hope the new manager will come in and realise this pub is a live music venue and gives it the time, attention and promotion it needs.”

Another customer added: “Well, it looks like the end of an epic era for The Old Black Bull on Friargate Preston. It has been Preston’s mega venue for live music for years. RIP The Old Black Bull. It’s been a blast!”
