A special education needs school in Bamber Bridge was subject to ‘horrendous damage’ costing the school £17,000 in repairs.
Between September and December last year, the Coppice School which has children between the ages of 2 and 19, was the target of a spate of vandalism which impacted the pupils’ education.
PCSO James Slater and Ben Rowland, with the support of LANPAC, the South Ribble community and the school have been able to secure funding and arrange a supplier/fitter for a new CCTV system.
Officers went to the school today (March 15), to visit the children and see the impact the new measures in place have offered the students.
A spokesperson for the police said: “With this system, anti-climb paint, ID paint to identify on clothing and other concealed measures have prevented further incidents and safeguarded the school allowing their pupils to get the education they deserve.
“We were very fortunate today to visit the site with Lanpac directors to see these measures, learn of the hard work the staff do to support their pupils and were kindly given cards made by the children.
“We look forward to continuing to support the school and should further incidents occur use these new security measures to identify and prosecute offenders.”
