A woman who rescued an injured cat that had been hit by a car and left for dead is appealing for donations to cover the cost of the animal’s treatment.

Amy Wroblewski, 20, from Clayton-le-Dale, was on her way to pick up a KFC when she spotted an injured cat on the side of Long Lane in Chorley at around 10.30pm on Thursday (March 2).

The cat was unable to move her back legs and was dragging herself into a nearby ditch, which is common for cats to do when they are close to dying.

Two women stopped to help Amy and her boyfriend get the cat out of the ditch before Amy rushed to emergency vets, Vets Now, in Longsight Road.

@amyyyyy1002 This poor baby was unable to move her back legs and dragged herself into a ditch ready to pass away😔 the RSPCA have not yet given us a log number or said they will pay for her treatment and it looks unlikely. I have 5 days to raise over £2500. Please help me save this little girl a second time❤️ many thanks and lots of love xx #fyp #cat #donate #save #fundraiser #share #foryou #viral ♬ Hold On - Chord Overstreet

Amy said: “She was given pain relief and has stayed there since.

"Thankfully, she’s stayed in a stable condition but the RSPCA haven’t taken her yet.

"They may be able to contribute towards her treatment but if they can’t do that and no owner shows up she might have to be put down.

“The vets haven’t told me how much the treatment will cost yet but they said it would be over a thousand pounds so if I can pay in full for the treatment I can say to the RSPCA that I’m happy to adopt her.

“Other than that, the vets couldn’t tell me much more about her condition because I’m not the owner, so I set up a GoFundMe at 1am that morning because I didn’t know what else to do, but I didn’t want to give up.

“I prepared myself to only raise around £50 to £100 from friends and family but the number of people who saw the TikTok I made really helped.

“I’m honestly shocked because after the TikTok went viral - over 200,000 people have seen the video - so many more donations came in so I’m so thankful for everyone’s kindness.”

More than 600 people flooded the comments section of Amy’s video thanking her for not driving past and leaving the cat to suffer alone.

Amy set a goal of £2,500 and thanks to the generosity of everyone who donated, has managed to raise £2,670 and counting.

She added: “I just want to say a massive thank you to everyone who shared the video and donated and also those two girls who stopped to help.”

Amy is visiting the vets today (March 9) for an update on the cat’s condition and to see what the next steps are for rehoming her.
