A TEENAGER who took a friend's car to go and buy cigarettes crashed into a parked vehicle as he turned into Olive Lane in Darwen.
Blackburn magistrates were told that neighbours who heard the collision were able to get the registration number before Peter Marsden Gosling drove off.
Gosling, 19, of Lisbon Drive, Darwen, pleaded guilty to taking a car without consent, failing to stop after an accident, driving without insurance and other than in accordance with a licence.
He was ordered to do 120 hours unpaid work, banned from driving for 18 months, fined £100 with £60 costs and ordered to pay £350 compensation.
The court heard that the following morning Gosling had given the car to a friend for him to repair it without telling the owner how the damage had been caused.
