A MAN has been cleared of subjecting his then partner to a frenzied attack after her father's funeral.
Anthony Power, 38, was alleged to have hit, kicked and stamped on Andrea Leak, knocking her out, when they returned from the wake, Burnley Crown Court heard.
Both had convictions for violence and each had been cautioned for assaulting each other in June last year.
Power had told the jury the alleged vctim had attacked him with a bottle and he had restrained her.
The defendant, of Moscow Mill Street, Oswaldtwistle, had denied assault causing actual bodily harm and was found not guilty.
Power said he had said that Miss Leak's brother's girlfriend had given a nice speech at the funeral and she accused him of fancying her.
He said she then hit him with a bottle and he grabbed her arms. When he let go, Miss Leak went out screaming. He told the jury she must have banged her head on the settee.
