POLICE have appealed for witnesses after a high school was broken into twice in one week.

Two Dell laptops worth £100 were stolen from Park High school, in Venables Avenue, Colne, in the first burglary between May 22 and 23.

And four computers worth £2,000 were taken between May 23 and 27.

Police said the burglars got in through a ground floor roof on both occasions.

Inspector Russ Proctor, of Nelson police, said: "We have given the school crime prevention advice.

"We are now looking at using SmartWater to mark the school's property.

"This is like individual DNA for each piece of property which transfers onto people's hands.

"This will help prevent and detect crime."
