A FATHER-to-be who "impersonated" his brother after getting behind the wheel whilst banned for a sixth time is behind bars.

Kabir Ahmed, 26, gave police his brother's details after he was stopped by police and also, unbeknown to his brother, took his brother's driving documents to the police station.

Ahmed, who had lied to the police about his identity before, was slammed as a "menace" by a judge, who jailed him for eight months at Burnley Crown Court.

Mortgage firm worker Ahmed, of Talbot Street, Burnley, admitted driving whilst disqualified, attempting to pervert the course of justice and no insurance.

Judge Beverley Lunt said: "You just ignore court orders.

"Whether it's stupidity or arrogance, it doesn't really matter.

"You are a menace."

Ahmed was also banned for two years.

Richard Taylor, defending, said Ahmed had a good job and a wife who was expecting their first child.

She had not been well and he took the decision to drive himself a short journey to work.
