A SINGLE mother who got drove while over the limit was taking friends home after a night out, Burnley magistrates heard.

Stacey Lynn Broadbent, 29, offered to drive when a friend felt unwell and because she had a licence.

She was not insured and lied to police, giving her sister's details.

Broadbent admitted drink-driving, driving without insurance and police obstruction.

She was fined £250, with a £15 victim surcharge and was banned for 12 months.

The justices told the defendant, of Pine Street, Nelson, she had only driven a short distance, but had posed a risk of harm to other road users.

Andrew Robinson, prose-cuting, siad that on April 17 at about 11.45pm, police saw a vehicle turn into Cross Skelton Street in Colne.

It nearly hit a number of parked cars and officers went to stop it.

Broadbent gave a false name, date of birth and address. A roadside breath test proved positive.

Mr Robinson said the defendant's real identity was confirmed with fingerprints.

A breath test showed 53 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 mililitres of breath - the legal limit is 35.
