Last night I attended the St. John's Area residents group who put a lot of time and effort into making the area a better place to live.

I have to say I feel rather sorry for some of the older residents who were present at the time, claiming that their walls have been damaged, people have been seen urintaing in their gardens.

I'm not sure how founded this claim is, but there was more than one comment about seeing youngsters actually having sex on the resident's property!

I can't even begin to imagine how these things must make them feel, but I do know that the group's committee are doing all they can to get Calico involved, who own said properties, and see about increasing the security of the area.

The group will soon be getting a new notice board so they can display any events or important notices of interest to the group members and other residents.

I think they were concerned about the notice board being vandalised or damaged with graffitti, but as one resident put it "you can't worry about everything all the time".

The group have arranged a litter pick for this weekend, Sunday April 27, meeting at the top of Fenny Fold Lane at 10am, so if anyone wants to see their area look better, the best way to ensure it, is to get involved.

The council are providing grabbers, bags and gloves for the volunteers who turn up but I'm sure you'd be welcome if you turned up with a carrier bag and a pair of rubber gloves!

Carrie, their press/publicity lady will soon be using this community site to advertise local events, and public opinion on what's going on locally.

So watch this space!
