OFSTED inspectors have praised the curriculum at a children's centre saying it meets children's individual learning needs and prepares them for school.

Darwen Children's Centre. was rated as 'good' and the report singled out 'outstanding' levels of personal support.

Leadership and management were also praised and staff were described as good role models who work well together, contributing greatly to the well being, progress and development of the children.

Inspectors said parents and carers have confidence that their children are well cared for, safe and making good progress. Children enjoy being in nursery and by school age, most have reached the expected standards for their age.

The flexibility of how the service is delivered was highlighted as a major plus for parents and carers.

Head of centre, Maria Nugent said: "I am delighted with our Ofsted report, which clearly shows we're on the right track.

"The staff work extremely hard to make sure all children enjoy a warm, welcoming and safe environment and that they receive high quality care and education.

"The commitment shown by staff, parents, partners and the management board to ensure the centre continues to go from strength to strength is fantastic."
