THE family of a 51-year-old murder victim have spoken of their shock at losing a kind' and 'loving' man.
Joseph Conroy was found with serious head injuries at his flat in Redearth Road, Darwen, on Friday afternoon.
Police said the keen fisherman, who was well known in the town, died after a vicious and sustained assault' and may have known his attacker.
A statement released by his family said: "Joseph's tragic death has left us deeply shocked.
"It is true that he liked a drink but he was a very kind man who would have done anything for anybody and he wouldn't hurt a fly.
"Joseph was a kind and loving father, son and brother and he will be sorely missed by everyone who knew him and loved him. He was a good friend to many "He loved animals and was a keen fisherman."
