A DRINK-driver who smashed into another car was more than twice the limit, Burnley magistrates heard.
Lithuanian Virgilijus Senulis, 42, told the victim the police should not be called and wanted to know how much compensation he wanted.
Senulis then repeatedly refused to give a sample of breath before finally agreeing at the police station, the court was told.
The defendant, of Alpha Street, Nelson, admitted driving with excess alcohol on March 16. He was banned for 20 months and ordered to pay a £250 fine, £75 costs and a £15 victim surcharge. He had no previous convictions.
Bill Maude, prosecuting, said at about 9pm a driver stopped at a junction in Nelson and the defendant drove into the back of him.
The victim got out and Senulis said the police should not be called. Officers were alerted and the defendant admitted he had been driving.
He refused twice to give a breath test despite being warned of the consequences.
Mr Maud said Senulis finally gave a test which showed 81 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath - the legal limit is 35. He was then interviewed and made full and frank admissions.
