A NANNY accused of murdering the 13-month-old baby son of two Lancashire police officers has had her charge reduced to manslaughter.

Isaac Rowlinson, the son of Det Insp Paul Rowlinson and PC Lisa Rowlinson, died on July 23.

Linda Wise, 46, of Gaerwen, Anglesey, North Wales, was charged with the murder of Isaac in December last year.

Nick Johnson QC, prosecuting, said at a hearing at Liverpool Crown Court that the crown would not be proceeding with a murder charge but a charge of manslaughter.

No plea has been entered by Wise.

The incidents are alleged to have taken place between August 13 and 21, 2006, and on or between August 21 and September 4, 2006.

A trial is expected to start in June at Liverpool Crown Court.

Former Blackburn and Great Harwood police officer DI Rowlinson, who now works in Preston, and his police constable wife Lisa works in Chorley.

The family lives in Penwortham.
