A £1 MILLION lottery grant is to be given to sports projects in East Lancashire.

A minister will announce the cash injection when she visits the area today to look at regeneration projects.

Communities minister Baroness Andrews will begin a day-long tour at Blackburn Rovers Sports Arena in Darwen.

She will then go to Accrington to see a new bungalow being built as part of the Housing Market Renewal scheme.

Her visit will also take in the Big Art Project at Burnley Youth Theatre.

The £1million grant will be given to the Sport and Physical Activity Alliances in Blackburn with Darwen, Burnley, Hyndburn, Pendle, Rossendale and Ribble Valley, which work to get more people to exercise.

Last month, Blackburn with Darwen Council announced it is making most of its sports centres free to the public.
