THE well-known Cordey's bakery was burgled days after it moved to new premises in Bacup.

Owner Anthony Cordey, who runs another bakery and coffee shop in Waterfoot, has moved into the former Schofield's bakery in St James Street.

He said: "We got the opportunity to run a shop so we had to take it. We've run a stall on Bacup market for 40 years now, but we want to assure our customers that we will be open six days a week.

"We've already been burgled and it's a shame because we've spent money on this shop."

The family business suffered the theft of a safe, crisps and soft drinks, and various cleaning materials.
