The Queen’s funeral will be taking place on Monday (September 19) and many businesses will be closed as a mark of respect.

Pubs, theatres and shops will be closed on the bank holiday. Some major supermarkets will also be closed across the county.

Here is a full list of Lancashire closures to be aware of:

  • Blackburn Empire Theatre, Aqueduct Road, Blackburn

The theatre’s booking office will be closed on Monday and audiences will be asked to observe a minute of silence before each show on Friday and Saturday.

A spokesperson said: “We wanted to update you about the theatre during the period of national mourning.

“Our shows on Friday and Saturday will continue as usual. We will be asking the audience to respect a minute of silence before each show in remembrance of HM Queen Elizabeth II.

Our booking office remains open as usual this week (Monday to Friday 10am to 12noon) for visitors and phone calls on 01254 685500.

“Our social media posts will recommence today to keep you up to date with our upcoming shows and events.

“As a mark of respect, we will suspend all posts on our social media accounts on Sunday 18th September and Monday 19th September. Our booking office will also be closed on Monday 19th September and reopen on Tuesday 20th September.

“If you are passing the theatre you will also see our tribute to HM Queen Elizabeth II.”

  • The Jump Works, Sydney Street, Accrington

The trampoline park will be closed on Monday “as a mark of respect” to the Queen.

  • Oswaldtwistle Mills Home and Lifestyle

A spokesperson for the home interiors shop said: “As a mark of respect and mourning our store will be closed on Monday 19th September for HM The Queen’s State Funeral.

“This will allow staff to pay their respects to her majesty.

“We will re-open as normal on Tuesday 20th September.”

  • The Crafty Fox, Abbey Street, Accrington

Paul Fox, owner of the pub, said: “As a mark of respect we will close on Monday for the Queen’s funeral . Open as usual from Tuesday.”

  • Blackpool Zoo, Park Drive, Blackpool

Posting to their Facebook page, a spokesperson said: "As a mark of respect, Blackpool Zoo will be closed on the day of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral, Monday 19th September 2022.

"If you have tickets purchased for this date, you will be receiving an email from us with your options."

  • Darwen Market

Darwen Market will be closed on Monday. Traders have voted to close as a mark of respect to Queen Elizabeth II.

The Market will reopen on Wednesday September 21 as usual.

  • Blackpool Tower, Blackpool Sea-Life Centre, Madame Tussauds Blackpool, Sandcastle Water Park

Merlin Entertainments, which owns all of these Blackpool attractions, said: "To mark the passing of Her Majesty, and to allow our guests and staff to pay their respects during this period of national mourning, we will be closed on the day of the state funeral Monday September 19. We will re-open the following day, Tuesday September 20.

"For further information including how to manage your booking, please visit our website."

  • Padiham Medical Centre, Burnley Road, Burnley

A spokesperson said: “As a mark of respect to the Queen's funeral, the Surgery will be closed on Monday.

“If you have a pre -booked appointment on this day, we will be contacting you in due course to re-arrange your appointment at the earliest opportunity.

“Please accept our apologies for any inconvenience this may cause.”

Major supermarkets chains and high street retailers have said they will shut next Monday due to the Queen’s funeral.

Grocery giants Sainsbury’s and Aldi have become the latest retailers to tell shoppers they will keep stores shut on September 19, which has been confirmed as a bank holiday as the Queen’s state funeral takes place.

Primark and John Lewis have also confirmed that they will be closed.
